Sustainbility Management Strategy
Sustainability Purpose and Strategies
CJ CheilJedang ensures future survivability and rises as a world-class company by applying the core values of Sustainable Environment and Wellness and Safety in raw material sourcing, production, consumption, and disposal.
The goal is to achieve a virtuous cycle system called Nature to Nature, where the nature that reaches the consumer's table is returned to nature. Additionally, we are enhancing the five-step direction plan to achieve sustainable management goals and ensure systematic execution.
After establishing a sustainable management governance and strategy in 2021, CJ CheilJedang launched the Global ESG Integration project in 2023. This project aims to manage company-wide risks caused by environmental changes and to globalize the ESG management system. In 2024, we initiated the development of a global ESG disclosure system, managing indicators aligned with international reporting standards and stakeholder expectations, and continuously broadening the scope of our Sustainability Report.
Based on this direction we will continue to build a foundation for sustainable growth and strengthen our competitive edge in sustainable management.
Sustainability Management Governance
CJ CheilJedang proactively manages ESG risks through timely decision-making. To ensure the effective implementation of sustainable management strategies, we have established a company-wide ESG implementation system that includes a Corporate Sustainability Committee, Council, and execution organizations. Our system is designed not only to manage risks but also to drive the company's future growth.
Risk Management
Risk Management System
CJ CheilJedang has established a system to categorize and identify potential risks in business management and to prevent them by continuously reviewing and managing related matters through the Board of Directors and its committees. We have designated the Chief of Staff as the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), who is responsible for overseeing the company-wide risk management activities based on a check-and-balance function that covers both financial and non-financial aspects. The CRO continuously monitors risk management activities across the entire business operation and reviews internal and external risk factors to develop appropriate response measures. All major company-wide risk-related matters are reported to the CEO and the Board of Directors through the CRO. In addition, we ensure the appropriateness of decision-making by implementing a prior review system that requires agreement with the CRO in advance for investments, expenses, and purchases above a certain threshold. Through weekly or monthly reporting systems by each business unit, current risk issues are regularly shared with the CRO, reinforcing the CRO’s oversight function over comprehensive risk management.
Management Establishment of
the ‘Compliance Management System
CJ CheilJedang has implemented CMS (Compliance Management System) 2.0 to strengthen its ability to proactively predict risks and execute effective responses. In 2021, CJ CheilJedang categorized its compliance obligations into 10 obligation areas and identified detailed obligations through analysis of laws and regulations related to CJ CheilJedang's business and interviews with business units.
In 2024, we introduced an integrated compliance management platform (Compliance Portal) to continuously improve our compliance management system, which we plan to expand to overseas business sites in the future.

Certification
CJ CheilJedang was the first Korean company to obtain ISO 37301 certification, an international compliance standard, in 2020. Since then, through annual follow-up audits, it has been verified that its compliance management system has been effectively established and maintained. In 2023, the company successfully renewed its certification.
In the 2024 follow-up audit, CJ CheilJedang received high marks for enhancing employee awareness through compliance education, managing risks via the Compliance Portal, and fostering Compliance Coordinators (CPCOs), confirming the effective operation of its compliance management system. Additionally, CJ CheilJedang has supported its major affiliates in obtaining ISO 37301 certification, contributing to the expansion of the CJ Group’s compliance management framework.
Strengthening Global Compliance
Management
CJ CheilJedang is continuously strengthening its overseas compliance management and response to become a global leader. In 2024, CJ CheilJedang raised awareness of compliance through the Declaration of Commitment, the establishment of compliance governance, and training for members of overseas affiliates. In 2025, we will continue to expand overseas compliance activities such as guideline distribution and monitoring based on existing activities.
